Debutant was unlucky to be exposed against Archer in the first innings, later played his part in the stunning run chase.

Khawaja – Three

A bizarre match. Did not look fully fit and had periods off the pitch. Held on to several key catches in the slips, yet also looked immobile in the field. Gets a mark for the injury that allowed Head to bat as opener.

Marnus Labuschagne – 7

An effective comeback to the team. Absorbed the English bowling pressure better than most initially, and supported Head in the second.

Smith – Five

Seemed off form in the first innings. Unnecessary before the game attack about Panesar.

Travis Head – 9

Possibly unfair to not get the full 10, but he attempted a rather poor shot in the first innings. His second-innings hundred was an historic innings.

Cameron Green – Five

Claimed the crucial dismissal of Ollie Pope in the first innings. Rattled by a Wood short ball during his innings. Hardly needed later in the match.

Alex Carey – Five

Attempted a counter-attack versus the English attack on the first evening. Tidy behind the stumps.

Starc – Nine

Shouldered the burden of the attack in the absence of Cummins and Hazlewood achieving the first Australian Ashes series 10-for for two decades.

Boland – 6

Short of top form initially. Improved later to trigger the England collapse.

Doggett – 6

Solid debut. More than able stand-in for Cummins and Hazlewood.

Nathan Lyon – 2

Virtually a spectator in a match dominated by fast bowling. Maybe suffered an injury when struck by Mark Wood.
