Week 10 once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' mantra that attracts so many people into the NFL
That result may have opened things up for the Patriots to creep back into a leading position they formerly held, with a remaining games that gives them an edge over their 8-2 rivals
Meanwhile in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation next week, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
Analysis - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Was it just an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs last week or something more? That's the question for the Buffalo team to address
The Buffalo squad had won seven in a row against Miami but were second best from the beginning as the Miami team ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening outcome - and display
MVP Josh Allen only achieved the squad's initial first down in the third period and first points in the fourth - admittedly Miami had 10 days to get ready but it was still a massive egg produced by one of the NFL's top offences
Tua Tagovailoa threw two scores but running back Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns
Bottling up the league's best rushing attack was crucial too, with Cook and company recording just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the season and just over half their 161.5 yard average
Then there were the three critical turnovers, and the two from Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone meaning a nine minute drive produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins converted to seven points just later
It was typical 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defensive side and Allen attempting to overcompensate to rescue his squad out of it - not the composed, controlled, balanced Bills we've seen this year
Miami have served up a varied performances this season so the jury's out on whether this is the beginning of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll require an instant response in a tough game against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are quietly moving into a nice lead at the summit of the AFC East
Spotlight - New England See Path to Unexpected First Place
Regarding the New England, they're among three 8-2 teams in the NFL, all AFC teams, but could they be the top team?
You can find flaws in the Patriots, Denver and the Colts actually for feasting on the lesser sides, with just five of their total 24 victories coming against opponents with a positive record - and one of those was the Indianapolis defeating the Broncos
Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can ride Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their prime time success in Orchard Park seems like a declaration
Their pair of losses occurred in recently appointed coach Vrabel's first three games, with seven consecutive victories, similar to Denver, from that point - but defeating Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to prepare was huge
Drake Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he certainly earns point for bravery after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his side to success
The defense is solid and first-year rusher TreVeyon Henderson exploded on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exciting scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - becoming just the fifth runner to break 22mph this season on his first score
While you can argue who 'the top team' is technically, the Pats should be favorites to end with the best record thanks to their remaining opponents - which features just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a huge one against the Bills
Traveling to the Ravens is also tough, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to face two times, the Chargers (who could also challenge for top seed but face the same problem) and also the Packers on the schedule
The Colts also play the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two matchups with the 5-4 Jacksonville to face. There is a long way to travel but the opportunity is available for a surprise top seed in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Set for Next Week Showdown
Both squads with solid claims to be superior to all of the three eight and two teams are NFC West rivals the Seattle and Rams, who each put up 40 burgers to go to seven and two ahead of the upcoming major meeting between the pair in Los Angeles
They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Darnold playing at an elite level (although Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with top receivers, and defenses giving up under 20 points a game
Each could easily be undefeated as too - especially the Rams as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning kick with the last kick deflected and returned by the Philadelphia for a touchdown
Seattle also lost to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before falling to the final play of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they're truly among the best sides in the NFL
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year so far
Player of the Week - Taylor
Taylor might be on for a historic year after his incredible display in Germany - rushing for 244 yards, registering three touchdowns and adding another forty-two {receiving yards
