Followers Call for Custody of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the actress are calling for that a man who breached a barrier and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating clip shows the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and charging at Grande while the cast made its way down a promenade flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents indicated that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram feed includes videos of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last December.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user questioned.
Followers Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Numerous fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote another comment on Instagram.
Several supporters also criticised guards at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while some demanded digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared startled when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Numerous of supporters had assembled in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore mall, including several who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it began.
The movie, to be launched on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-film interpretation of the popular theatrical musical Wicked, which revolves around the surprising friendship between two contrasting witches.
The production itself is a spin-off of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of last year in the UK, and received 10 Oscar nominations, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and production design.
