Former Doctor Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
