Gaza City Violence Between Palestinian Movement and Family Members Cause 27 Dead.

Armed Clash in Urban Gaza

At least 27 individuals have been claimed in fierce confrontations between Hamas fighters and fighters of the Dughmush clan in the Gaza urban area, marking a particularly severe intra-Palestinian conflicts since the cessation of extensive Israeli campaigns in the region.

Masked Hamas gunmen exchanged fire with clan fighters near the city's healthcare center, according to observers.

Ministry Statement

A senior official in the Hamas-controlled interior ministry stated that security units blockaded them and entered fierce battles to apprehend them. The department reported that 8 its personnel were lost in "a militant attack by a paramilitary force".

Medical sources confirmed that nineteen Dughmush clan members and 8 Hamas security personnel had been killed since fighting began on Saturday.

Local Testimonies

Local residents reported that the violence erupted in the Tel al-Hawa district in the southern part of Gaza City after a Hamas force of over 300 militants advanced to attack a residential block where Dughmush gunmen were fortified.

Local inhabitants described scenes of panic as many residents fled their homes under sustained firearm exchanges, with many of them having been relocated repeatedly during the conflict.

"On this occasion residents weren't escaping Israeli attacks," a local inhabitant stated. "They were escaping from members of their community."

Historical Strain

The Dughmush family, among Gaza's notable families, has consistently experienced a tense relationship with Hamas, and its fighter elements have confronted the organization on several occasions in the past.

The Hamas-controlled interior ministry said its units were seeking to restore order, warning that "every paramilitary operation not within the system of the Palestinian resistance" would be addressed decisively.

Opposing Versions

Both sides traded accusations over which party was accountable for triggering the clashes.

The movement previously stated that Dughmush gunmen fatally wounded two of its militants and hurt five others, prompting the movement to commence a mission against them.

In contrast, a source from the Dughmush family stated to regional press that Hamas fighters had arrived at a structure that once served as the Jordanian medical center, where the tribe had sought shelter after their dwellings in the al-Sabra neighbourhood were demolished in the previous Israeli assault.

The representative asserted that Hamas tried to expel the clan from the premises to create a different command center for its forces there.

Larger Situation

Hamas has recalled approximately 7,000 personnel of its armed forces to reinforce authority over Gaza territories recently vacated by Israeli troops, according to regional insiders.

Information indicates that armed Hamas units have already deployed across several districts, with some wearing civilian clothes and additional elements in the blue gear of the Gaza law enforcement. The Hamas media office rejected that it was stationing combatants in urban zones.
