Much like bad weather tore through the northwest the previous evening, City blew United aside at the Etihad Stadium. It was a statement three-nil victory for the City coach's side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that firmly established their title credentials as they reinforced their place at the league summit.

Consecutive Setbacks for Manchester United

This result signalled back-to-back WSL setbacks for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since May 2024, placing them seven points off the table toppers with their championship aspirations severely dented.

The Red Devils' capability to juggle league and continental football with a limited squad has been a widely debated issue since they earned a place in the UCL.
