Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.

At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
