Six Individuals Detained After €12 Million Armed Raid on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

A team of six suspects equipped with military-grade weapons detonated charges to break into a gold treatment facility located in the city of Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five workers during what is being called the newest significant daylight theft to affect the nation.

The bold operation occurred on Thursday afternoon, with police forces swiftly apprehending the alleged criminals and securing the stolen items estimated to be worth €12 million (£10.5M), officials reported.

Five employees of the precious metals facility were slightly hurt as a result of the detonation, and three employees required hospital checks for examination, according to regional authorities. Twenty-eight workers were present on-site when the perpetrators raided.

The individuals, considered experienced criminals, were arrested shortly after the incident in the nearby town of Vénissieux, France, authorities revealed.

A female accomplice involved in the heist was also apprehended, a police source indicated.

“Six individuals who used detonations in an assault targeting a precious metals company in Lyon, France were arrested at the scene,” France's security official declared on social media, praising officers for their “quick action, authority and management”.

Assault rifles, handguns and explosives were also confiscated.
